Fireplace Bellows are the apparatus used for producing a strong current of air, as for sounding a pipe organ or increasing the draft to a fire. It consists of a flexible, valved air chamber that is contracted and expanded by pumping to force the air through a nozzle. While being very useful, the bellows can be customized to be unique gifts by painting, staining, carving or engraving. They were initially used to start or keep a fire burning by providing puffs of air.
